Deborah Frances-White


Introduction

Deborah Frances-White's first play - ESCAPE FROM EDEN - was selected by Christopher Hampton for The Cameron Mackintosh New Writing Festival. She then went on to sell her first screenplay, a quirky romantic comedy she co-wrote - THE WEDDING PACT - to Fox Searchlight. She sold her first screenplay pitch with her writing partners - EMPTY NESTERS - to Alcon. Deborah now has a number of script commissions including a feature script MAKING BABIES for Red Wave Films and various TV pilot scripts wit her writing partner Philippa Waller for the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV studios. Deborah's script TALLULAH'S BOYS is in development with Baby Cow. Deborah is also a stand up comedian. Her show 'How to Get Almost Anyone to Want to Sleep With You', has toured around the world with commercial and critical success. Her current show HALF A CAN OF WORMS, about finding her biological family, is part drama, part mystery and part comedy. Deboarh has created two live improvisation shows VOICES IN YOUR HEAD and VOICES IN YOUR HEAD-THE PHILL JUPITUS EXPERIMENT. Both shows will be produced by So Television at The Pleasance at the 2013 Edinburgh festival. Deborah was adopted at ten days old, was raised in Australia, became a Jehovah's Witness as a teenager, left her religion and family to come to London with a one way ticket, has worked as an interpreter in both sign language and Japanese, read English at The University of Oxford, has lived in a number of countries including America and Israel, and regularly delivers her seminar How to Be a Charismatic Woman in a Man's World to business women in the UK, the US and Australia. She co-founded the comedy improvisation company The Spontaneity Shop with Tom Salinsky and together they authored Amazon theatre best-seller 'The Improv' Handbook which is going into second edition. Deborah has also been commissioned to write a book about stand up comedy called OFF THE MIC for Bloomsbury.
